If you’re in the fat loss crowd, there’s no question that you should get to know tabata training. While it’s not a relatively new concept to hit the fitness stage, far too many people have never even heard of this training technique before and are largely missing out.
When done properly, the tabata training method may just be the most beneficial of all the exercises to lose belly fat you can do.
You know what’s more? It takes just four minutes.
Four minutes?
Most people out there are used to their 60 minute hamster-like treadmill sessions where they slave away on the ‘wheel’ for hours each week. And they don’t enjoy it! You really must ask yourself, are you getting the benefits you’d like from this? Are all those long, slow, cardio workouts getting you to your end goal?
Chances are they aren’t – otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this right now.
Face the facts – long, boring cardio just doesn’t work and you’re a real live example of this so it’s time for a new way. The Tataba way. Let’s go over a few of the benefits that Tabata training has to offer.
.
Tabata Training Benefit #1
First things first let’s get to the #1 benefit of doing Tabata training. Oh wait, we already mentioned it. One session of a Tabata workout takes just 4 M-I-N-U-T-E-S. Who doesn’t have four minutes in their day? We at 9MinutesToRipped actually recommend a pair of 4 minute Tabata workouts, with a minute of rest in between, but it’s fine to start with just a single 4 minute workout!
If you want to get in shape and strip the fat from your body but yet cannot find just four minutes to dedicate to a workout plan, how serious are you really about those goals? Four minutes is perfectly doable for anyone. In fact, most people could easily fit two tabata training sessions into their day.
So right there you have a huge benefit. 4 minutes to fit? Now that’s something everyone can do!
Tabata Training Benefit #2
Second, if I was to ask you what the most important thing to losing weight was, what would you say?
Hopefully, you’ve done your research and know that creating what’s called a ‘calorie deficit’ is in order. What this means is that at the end of the day, you’ve burned off more calories than you’ve consumed.
Good. Now, what’s the biggest calorie burner of all? No, it’s not those hour-long cardio workouts, it’s something called your basal metabolic rate. This is all the calories you burn each day just to stay alive, without any particular degree of exertion. Since your body is constantly burning up calories even as you read this, that will be your biggest cardio burner.
Do you know what Tabata training is going to do to your basal metabolic rate? Send it shooting through the roof! Because of the nature of Tabata training workouts, you’re going to really place a huge stress on the body – a stress that it must then deal with.
As your body deals with this, your heart rate will idle at a slightly faster rate. It’s going to burn hundreds of calories over the coming hours–not just when you’re exercising. Thus, you burn more calories while you rest. Burn more fat while you sleep? Yes, that is precisely what Tabata training is going to do.
Tabata Training Benefit #3
Finally, the third benefit of Tabata training is that it will reduce muscle tissue loss. One big problem that you’re going to deal with on many fat loss diets you go on is that you’ll lose lean body tissue. After all, your lean body tissue burns up to 5 times the calories that body fat does, so in periods of low food intake, it’s your basic survival mechanism to start utilizing this energy-expensive tissue for fuel.
But what this means to you is that your basal metabolic rate drops, and you now know just how important maintaining a high BMR is.
Fortunately, since Tabata training places a great deal of intensity on the muscle tissues, it sends a signal to your body that that muscle is needed. Therefore, the body won’t get rid of it.
Instead, it turns to your fat storage as fuel instead. This is precisely what you want. Once again, Tabata training is going to do it.
So after all of these benefits you really must ask yourself, why haven’t you gotten started on Tabata training yet?

My ultimate frisbee team runs 4 sets of tabatas after every practice and they are killers. Such a great and quick workout that you can adapt to almost any exercise.

I do trust all the ideas you have introduced on your post. They’re very convincing and will definitely work. Nonetheless, the posts are too short for beginners. Could you please extend them a bit from next time? Thank you for the post.
